Gill Thornley started Ditto in 1983 and has been trading in the heart of Brighton's North Laine for the last 25 years. Ditto is made up of a loyal team of enthusiastic people who are avid dressmakers and lovers of fabric.

Ditto's aim is to stock interesting, high quality fabrics and end of line designer fabrics at affordable prices, as well as a wide range of basic fabrics at competitive prices. Gill and her team aim to make the shop a haven of colour and texture and an exciting, enjoyable place to visit for those who are passionate about fabric.

Ditto carries a wide range of basics such as nets from 99p per mtr, calicos from £1.99 per mtr, cottons from £1.20, polycottons from £1.99, organzas from £1.99 and polyester habotai from £1.50 per mtr. New fabrics arrive weekly, and with Gill's contacts with English and Italian designers, it is not uncommon to have a wide range of unusual stripe shirtings and wool suitings from a famous English designer plus the odd piece from Prada, Gucci and Versace. But these are one off pieces and fly off the shelves quickly so you need to buy it when you see it!
